Privacy Policy

Grids is a drum machine for iPhone, made by Pedro Lopes (designbypepo).
Summary: Grids does not collect your data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no trackers, and no servers of mine. Everything you make stays on your device and in your own iCloud.
What Grids stores
Your beats:
Projects, lanes, steps, pads and their settings are saved on your device.
Sounds you record or import:
If you record something with the microphone or import an audio file, it is saved in the app's own folder on your device.
Your preferences:
Small settings - the metronome, count-in, whether the library shows as a list or a gallery.
None of this is sent to me.
iCloud
If you are signed in to iCloud, Grids syncs your beats and your recorded sounds to your private iCloud database, so they appear on your other devices.
This uses Apple's CloudKit. The data lives in your own Apple Account in a private container. I cannot see it, and neither can anyone else. Apple's handling of it is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
To stop syncing, turn Grids off under Settings → [your name] → iCloud on your device.
Microphone
Grids asks for microphone access only at the moment you choose to record a sound. Recordings are saved to your device, and to your private iCloud as described above.
They are never sent anywhere else, and the microphone is not used at any other time.
Sharing beats
When you export a beat, Grids writes a .grids file containing the pattern and any sounds you recorded for it. Where that file goes is entirely your choice - AirDrop, Messages, Files, anywhere. Grids does not upload it.
What Grids does not do
No accounts, no sign-in
No analytics, tracking, or advertising
No third-party SDKs or frameworks
No network connections of its own - there is no server of mine to send anything to
Beta Testing
While Grids is in beta through TestFlight, Apple may share crash logs and any feedback you choose to send with me, so I can fix problems.
That is handled by Apple's TestFlight, not by Grids, and it is covered by Apple's privacy policy. You can read it in the TestFlight app before you join.

Children
Grids does not collect personal information from anyone, children included.
Deleting your data
Deleting a beat in the app removes it from your device and from your iCloud.
Deleting Grids removes everything held on the device; to clear the iCloud copy as well, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Grids.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, I will update this page and the date at the top.
